What a view for breakfast! We stayed her two nights during the Whale watching season. The rooms are very nice and the common areas are like an interesting living room of an interesting person. There are two rooms upstairs which face the ocean and a large suite downstairs. The hostess is very helpful and we got a very good whale guide for a few hours. The highlight for me was sitting at breakfast directly in front of the ocean.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by Gail and felt comfortable. She suggested great places to eat and had booked my whale watching boat tour and whale walking tour before I arrived which was good peace of mind. I was able to spot whales in the morning from the breakfast table. The patio has a lovely relaxing feel with full view of the ocean. Right across the guesthouse is a bench overlooking the water where you can have a beautiful sunset view. It is walking distance to the main town centre, the promenade along the beach and restaurants. I stayed in the garden room which was very spacious. This room doesn't have the ocean view, but rather an outside seating area and personal access via the parking, which I appreciated. I travelled alone and felt safe and comfortable walking around the guesthouse. I highly recommend taking the whale walk with Dave De Beer, the guesthouse keeper is able to organise this for you. It was a magical trip in Hermanus and I recommend for anyone.

We've had a fantastic stay at La Fontaine in Hermanus. The house is truly wonderful; well decorated, fully equipped, very clean and important: good beds. The location of the house is perfect: beautiful ocean view and walking distance to all restaurants shops and attractions. We had a lovely walk on the cliff path, which starts right in front of the house. Thank you for your hospitality. We felt more than welcome and enjoyed our stay!

I have visited Cape Town for a couple of years now for my work. I heard about Hermanus, this wonderful spot just a 1.5 hour drive from cape town. Some of my colleges already told me some stories about this guest house, so I booked for 3 nights. And what a place to just relax and sit back! It is perfectly located next to the beach and the cliff path. Both for looking for adventure or just to lounge next to the swimming pool, it’s up to you. The host is always present to help you with booking restaurant and activities all around the town. And she knows a lot, since has already lived here for decades. About the place, I slept in this beautiful room with sea view with a balcony (book this one!). All rooms are different so there is a lot of choice. Rooms are clean, and breakfast is more than you need. I always have preferred guest houses as they are way more giving you the ‘home experience’. Oh almost forgot, they have also taken good measures for the current Covid situation, 1.5 meter distance, you know the drill ;). Well just to conclude, do not look any further, you won’t regret it.

Gail the manager was extremely helpful and friendly and that really added to the enjoyment of our stay. I had booked a two bedroom suite but what we actually got was two relatively small rooms linked by a bathroom. No room to move about.Not really suitable for three adults. We had expected 2 bedrooms plus bathroom and some sort of sitting area. However as every other aspect was so good we said nothing

Probably the best guesthouse we stayed at during our holiday.The accommodation was spacious and had everything one could need. The bedroom had a balcony overlooking the sea where we could see dolphins. It was good to be able to book the evening before what you wanted for breakfast which was well cooked and served promptly by very pleasant staff. As the manageress was a coeliac she was able to provide GF toast and gave advice on where best to shop for GF food (Woolworths). If returning to the Garden Route I would certainly stay here again.
